Velikost in demokracija pod drobnogledom: Kritična razprava o domnevnem kompromisu med zmožnostjo reševanja težav in sodelovanjem

Klasična literatura o velikosti in demokraciji trdi, da obstaja kompromis med priložnostmi za široko sodelovanje državljanov in zmožnostjo skupnosti za učinkovito obvladovanje izzivov, s katerimi se sooča njihova okolica. Kot posledica tega manjše politične enote plemenitijo demokracijo, večje enote pa krepijo zmožnost upravljanja. Trdimo, da je v luči nedavnih prispevkov o demokratičnem upravljanju, ki temelji na omrežju, kompromis vprašljiv, čeprav je lahko bistven v smislu osredotočanja na reprezentativne demokratične institucije. V članku je predstavljen ta argument in predlagani so elementi, ki bi jih bilo treba vključiti v pregledano teorijo velikosti občin.
