South African Digital Entrepreneurship: Innovation, Market Platform And Inclusive Growth

Abstract

The persistent emigration of skilled professionals from South Africa since the 1990s, often dubbed narrowly as a debilitating brain drain, has generated national anxiety regarding human capital flight and economic stagnation. The article examines this migration phenomenon, particularly the white South African diaspora, proposing that this globally integrated community represents a powerful, yet underutilized, resource for national economic scaling and capacity building. We introduce the concept of diaspora-powered scaling to analyze, by structured engagement, how it is possible to transform the outward migration trend into a dynamic mechanism for inward circulatory transfer of critical talent.
