Talent is the key to the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas, and returning to one’s hometown to start a business is an effective way for rural talent to reintegrate. A survey conducted among 993 youth entrepreneurs who have returned to their hometowns in Zhejiang Province reveals that this group is characterized by being relatively young, well-educated, politically engaged, strongly motivated, diverse in industry distribution, and versatile in business practices. However, specific challenges persist in their entrepreneurial practices, including the need to enhance entrepreneurial competencies, a lack of essential entrepreneurial resources, and suboptimal entrepreneurial environments. Therefore, measures can be taken to address these issues by strengthening publicity efforts, optimizing training programs, providing support in terms of funding, land, and human resources, as well as improving rural infrastructure and public service systems. These actions aim to facilitate the return of entrepreneurs, enhance the entrepreneurial environment, and ensure that young people are motivated to return, remain, and thrive in their hometowns.
