Povzetek

This study aims to identify and analyze the structural and subjective causes of divorce among young people in Algerian society, focusing on the perceptions and representations of university students (both those considered elite and those about to marry or who have experienced separation). The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing both electronic and paper questionnaires administered to a purposive sample of 400 male and female students from several Algerian universities. To process the data and test the hypotheses, a two-way logistic regression model was used. The impact of structural independent variables (such as economic pressures, family interference, and the housing crisis) and subjective independent variables (such as emotional deprivation, lack of dialogue, and misuse of social media) on the dependent variable (the probability of divorce) was measured. The results showed that structural causes (especially family interference and economic pressures) and subjective causes (emotional deprivation and misuse of social media) possess a high predictive power regarding the occurrence of divorce. The study concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which is the activation of family counseling offices within the university environment.
