Abstract

CSR is an important aspect of sustainability and ethical governance in the energy sector. The research conducted a bibliometric analysis using Scopus database and explored the trend and knowledge building around CSR in the energy sector. The study analysed a bibliometric dataset of scholarly publications and assessed citation patterns, co-authorship networks, and keyword co-occurrences. The findings reveal a surge in the publication over the years 2004 to sept 2025, particularly around 2019 and 2023. Key factors that influence CSR are firm size, profitability, leverage, industry type, board size & composition, CEO duality & characteristics, CEO’s career orientation & incentive, ownership type, market type etc. The study also found insufficient study of CSR in energy sector. The study identified major trends, thematic areas, and research gaps. Study shows the top journals, articles, authors, and countries that are contributing to this subject.
