Abstract

This study introduces an innovative educational game created by the researcher, called ‘Word Balance’, which is designed to develop second-grade students’ awareness of forming derived Arabic words. To achieve this, the researcher transformed the concept of “morphological balance”, devised by Arabic linguists, from an abstract theoretical idea into a tangible, realistic game. The game enables students to improve their cognitive skills, such as attention, perception, analysis, differentiation and synthesis of derived Arabic words. This helps them to become aware of how to generate derived words in the language.
