This study explores the role of organizational innovation, digital technology adoption, and work systems in enhancing the performance and entrepreneurial transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nakhon Nayok Province, Thailand. Using a qualitative methodology, the research conducts an in-depth content analysis based on secondary data from academic literature, conceptual models, and empirical research. Grounded in integrative entrepreneurship and digital transformation theories, the study examines the interplay between innovation, technology integration, organizational structure, and business outcomes.
Key findings highlight four central insights: (1) Organizational innovation is vital for digital entrepreneurship, enabling SMEs to adapt to technological change and shifting consumer behavior. (2) Digital competencies and innovation capability significantly impact both financial and non-financial performance indicators. (3) The CTED model—Core Competencies, Technology Transformation, Environment Management, and Data-Driven Organization—offers a strategic framework for guiding digital entrepreneurial development. (4) Innovative practices, digital tools, and agile work systems directly enhance SME performance in competitive and dynamic markets. The study concludes that digital transformation requires more than adopting technology; it demands organizational readiness, visionary leadership, and cultural adaptability. SMEs that lag in these areas risk obsolescence in an increasingly digital economy. Strategic recommendations include investing in digital skill development, implementing integrated management technologies, establishing online sales platforms, and embracing data-driven decision-making. Policymakers and stakeholders are encouraged to support SMEs through training, funding, and digital network collaboration to drive sustainable growth and competitiveness in the digital era.
