The President of the Republic in the Algerian political system is the Head of State and the symbol of its unity, and he enjoys broad powers in various fields, most notably in the diplomatic field and foreign relations. These powers confirm his role in representing the state in international forums and protecting its foreign interests, and express the will of the people before the international community, in accordance with the provisions of the Algerian Constitution. This study gains its importance from the fact that the office of the President of the Republic is among the most significant positions in the state, as it expresses the will of the state in its foreign relations.
The Head of State has numerous prerogatives in the foreign, i.e. diplomatic, domain . He defines the country’s foreign policy, concludes international treaties, and appoints and accredits ambassadors and diplomatic representatives. These matters will be examined in this research paper.
