Abstract

"Article 20" is a realistic work that focuses on Chinese society. The film focuses on the issue of "legitimate defense", and the story is based on real social events, capturing the social topics of public concern. The movie accurately interprets Article 20 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China - the "justifiable defense" clause. It artistically analyzes and reconstructs the many difficulties that exist in the practical process of this legal provision, issuing a resounding call for justice to society. This study first focuses on the aesthetic of the camera, the use of color and light, detail processing, and narrative strategies full of humanistic beauty in the film for artistic appreciation. Article 20 is based on the restoration of the real world, using color, light and shadow, and unique narrative strategies to authentically reproduce the characters and plot in typical environments, highlighting the rational and warm emotional tone of the film. Finally, based on public policy, this study analyzes social phenomena such as campus bullying, petitioning, and "legal harassment" mentioned in Article 20.
