This paper explores the role of local self-government in enhancing civic engagement and improving citizen participation in political processes. As societies become more diverse and complex, engaging citizens in local governance becomes increasingly vital for fostering inclusive communities and promoting democratic values. This study investigates the mechanisms through which local governments can stimulate civic participation, with a particular focus on innovative approaches that leverage digital platforms, participatory budgeting, and community-led initiatives. Through a qualitative research methodology, including interviews with local government officials and community leaders, the paper identifies key strategies for encouraging greater public involvement and discusses the barriers that prevent effective engagement. The findings highlight the significance of inclusive policy-making, public awareness programs, and collaborative governance models in overcoming challenges to civic engagement. The paper concludes by proposing policy interventions aimed at improving the accessibility and effectiveness of local governance, which ultimately contribute to stronger and more connected communities.
